Introduced in 1935 "The Challenger" operated over CNW, UP & SP lines. "The Challenger" revolutionized passenger travel between Chicago and the West Coast and by 1937 it had become one of the most heavily travelled trains in the country.
An O Scale first! Made by Golden Gate Depot exclusively for JD's Trains. Only 25 total (2 & 3 Rail) sets were made."The Challenger" Color Scheme:

- Lettering: "UNION PACIFIC" and car numbers are in post-1938 UP typestyle in Imitation Gold. "The Challenger" logo is Red outlined with Imitation
